2023 IM Meet Summary

Reston Swim Publicity

I swim, therefore IM!

The annual RSTA Individual Medley (IM) Meet was held on Wednesday, July 12 at Lake Newport pool. This year, over 300 brave swimmers from among the eight RSTA teams demonstrated their mastery of all four strokes by competing in the 100 Meter Individual Medley.

At this annual meet, swimmers from all age groups compete voluntarily and must swim 25 meters of each stroke: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. It’s a long way to go, but our RSTA kids are always up for a challenge. Congratulations to all the swimmers who participated in this event.

Extra congratulations go to our youngest swimmer of the meet, Grace Steiner from North Hills at just 6 years old. What a swim, Grace! Way to go!

The competition on Wednesday was especially tough among the youngest boys age groups. In these two closest races of the meet, the differences between #1 and #2 were just fractions of a second:

  • Boys 8 & Under - a difference of 0.55 seconds
    1. Jameson Huskey - GL - 2:16.22
    2. Landon Unadkat - NH - 2:16.77
  • Boys 9-10 - even closer, with a difference of only 0.52 seconds
    1. Michael Yang - HW - 1:34.41
    2. Aspen Xing - LN - 1:34.93

We’ll have to keep track of these fellows and see if the #2s strike back next year!

Many thanks to the folks that made it all happen – organizers, officials, volunteers, parents, kids - it is a true community event and we had a great time coming together. Our next opportunity to gather will be the All Stars, our other league-wide event, taking place on Saturday, July 29th. We hope to see you there.

As always, visit the RSTA 2023 Schedule & Meet Results page for the complete, official results from our Individual Medley Meet.
