2024 IM Meet Nets a New Team Record

Reston Swim Publicity

Believe it! We waited out the stormy weather and had a great IM meet on Wednesday, July 17th.

Over 300 brave swimmers from among the eight RSTA teams demonstrated their mastery of all four strokes by competing in the 100 Meter Individual Medley. Each competitor had to swim 25 meters of each stroke: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. It’s a long way to go, but our RSTA kids are always up for a challenge. Congratulations to all the swimmers who participated in this voluntary event, especially our three 6-year-olds. Way to go little ones – that’s a lot of swimming!

The competition on Wednesday was hot, hot, hot for the 15-18 boys, the closest race of the meet, where first and second place were separated by just fractions of a second:

  • Boys 15 - 18 100 IM - a difference of 0.25 seconds
    1. Michael Zhou (16) - LN - 1:00.23
    2. Jackson Harriot (17) - AW - 1:00.47

And that’s also a new team record for Autumnwood! With that swim, Jackson Harriot bested the previous Autumnwood 15-18 Boys IM record of 1:01.59 set by Adam Brenneman in 2002. Congratulations Jackson!

As always, visit the RSTA 2024 Schedule & Meet Results page for the complete, official results from our Individual Medley Meet.

Many thanks to the folks that made it all happen – organizers Katie and Beth, officials, volunteers, parents, and coaches. It is a true community event, and we had a great time coming together despite the rain, cheering on our swimmers. Our next opportunity to gather as a league will be at the All Stars meet, taking place on Saturday, July 27th. We hope to see you there!
